Alocasia

The majority of Alocasias sold are a special subgroup of tropical aroids known as Jewel Alocasias—making them more manageable as houseplants. The Jewel Alocasias are gorgeous specimens with unique leaf textures, shapes, and variegation. These beautiful plants bring the tropical region they originate from into your home. If the texture and variegations don’t grab you maybe the names will!

  • Alocasia ‘Black velvet’

  • Alocasia ‘Dragon Scale’

  • Alocasia ‘Melo’

  • Alocasia ‘Red Secret’

  • Alocasia ‘Black Magic’

  • Alocasia ‘Bambino’

Light -

Indirect bright light  - East-facing windows or shaded south- and west-facing ones

  • Avoid direct sun from a West/South facing window as it  could burn the foliage of these beautiful plants.

Alocasia - Black Velvet

Alocasia - zebrina

Temperature & Humidity:

Tropical plants do best in a humid and slightly warm environment. They thrive best above 65 degrees Fahrenheit, and they love a light misting of water.

  • If your plant gets too dry, it may begin to develop brown tips on its leaves. In the event that this happens, placing it next to a humidifier will help avoid further damage to the leaves.

Alocasia - silver dragon

Water:

Check every 10-14 days. Water well and allow plant to dry down two to three inches. If in doubt give it another day to dry down.

Ensuring all excess water drains and plant is not sitting in any excess water. (Always recommend pots with drainage holes and saucers)
